Job Description
Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Coordinator of Special
Education – Early Intervention to provide leadership and program oversight in delivering early
intervention services. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is
passionate about special education and committed to making a meaningful impact on young
learners, their families, and our community.
Position Overview:
The Coordinator of Special Education/Early Intervention is responsible for overseeing professional
and paraprofessional staff, related service providers, and ensuring that programs are tailored to the
current needs, developmental functions, and support systems of children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of the Early Intervention Program
Provide leadership and specialized knowledge to IU and member districts
Support the Intermediate Unit's mission and strategic goals
Actively engage in community relations and interagency collaboration
Monitor development and implementation of IEPs in collaboration with staff
Serve as a liaison between CIU 20, school districts, families, and outside agencies
Provide timely reports and data to supervisory staff
Assist in planning, expanding, and evaluating Early Intervention services
Organize and support interagency participation where needed
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Director of Special Education
Requirements:
Valid PA Certification as a Supervisor of Special Education
Knowledge and experience in Speech and Language Support Services
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and/or PA
Speech and Language Licensure preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and build strong professional relationships
Basic computer proficiency to effectively utilize CIU 20’s computer-based and web-based
platforms
