The Critical Facilities Technician operates, inspects, and maintains all HVAC, mechanical, CRAC/CRAH, electrical, plumbing, and systems within our Data Center environments to obtain most efficient operating results and life expectancy. Responsibilities include assuring equipment is maintained in an energy efficient, safe manner with minimal downtime by anticipating necessary repairs and keeping records; performing inspections and repairs to property interior and exterior areas; operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. The role requires expertise in one technical area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations, Material Handling Equipment) and multi-skills in others. Maintenance duties involve using critical environment protocols, performing preventive and repair work orders on mechanical, electrical and other systems, maintaining HVAC and CRAC units, plumbing, building repairs, and production equipment. The technician must study and become familiar with critical environments, building automation, fire/life safety systems, and other equipment. Safety responsibilities include completing hazard assessments, complying with safety procedures and laws, maintaining housekeeping, and completing required safety trainings. Administrative tasks include updating work order status in real time, using CMMS systems like Corrigo, escalating issues timely, attending meetings, and other assigned duties. Work conditions involve lifting up to 80 lbs, working from heights, climbing ladders, working in extreme temperatures, and being available for call-in work. Desired experience includes 4+ years in building engineering with strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical repair skills, data center experience, customer service skills, EPA 608 Certification, CRAC maintenance experience, relevant licenses, computer skills, and trades school or apprenticeship background.
