The on-site GIS Analyst is responsible for the entire geospatial data lifecycle. The role involves collecting, organizing, editing, and vectorizing data through image interpretation to create finished products for clients. Key responsibilities include performing quality assurance and control (QA/QC), assisting in the development of data creation and QA/QC tools, and serving as a technical resource for assistance and training. This position will be working for Sanborn at the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Position Location: Onsite in Baton Rouge, LA

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Create, manage, and share geodatabases and spatial data through ArcGIS Online.
  • Develop and manage web maps, applications, and dashboards using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Utilize expertise in GIS, Remote Sensing, and a Transportation or Utility background to inform all tasks.
  • Create geodatabases and share, publish services and hosted data with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Process and mosaic satellite and aerial imagery for analysis and visualization.
  • Write and execute Python scripts (utilizing ArcPy and pandas) and SQL queries to automate and streamline geospatial workflows.
  • Create and implement complex geoprocessing workflows using Model Builder, with a focus on hydrology and breaklines.
  • Conduct thorough Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) on all geospatial data and products.
  • Apply knowledge of Esri Linear Referencing Systems (LRS) to manage and analyze linear data.
  • Integrate and work with design files from AutoCAD.
  • Perform hydrological mapping and watershed analysis using ArcGIS Pro.
  • Support client communications on technical matters as needed.
  • Manage task schedules to meet project deadlines and maximize team efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION:

Associates degree in a relevant field of study, such as geomatics, engineering, or geography. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education requirement.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3–10 years of professional GIS experience, with demonstrated capabilities in editing, analysis, and QA/QC.
  • Background in GIS, remote sensing, and transportation or utility mapping projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Esri applications, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Dashboards, and web apps.
  • Experience with LRS (Linear Referencing Systems) and AutoCAD integration.
  • Solid knowledge of geospatial workflows involving raster data, including satellite and aerial imagery processing.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using Python (ArcPy, pandas) and crafting SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with Model Builder, hydrology tools, and breakline creation workflows.
  • Experience publishing and sharing spatial data through ArcGIS Online and Portal environments.
  • Candidates must demonstrate relevant hands-on experience across multiple projects

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and analyze general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as factions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

ESRI Technical Certification(s) is highly desired

Salary Range: 65K - 80K annually
