As a
paralegal in House Counsel office, you'll handle tasks crucial to the success of our law group. The primary duties will include but are not limited to, objecting and responding to interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production, preparing initial disclosures, preparing memos, motions, (including motions for summary judgment), preparing briefs and documents for review and evaluation by attorneys, client communications, efiling court documents, and possible legal research utilizing WestLaw and state specific websites.
This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to an office for meetings and/or training. Candidates must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the office they support.
Must-have qualifications - High school diploma/GED equivalent or higher and a minimum 4 years paralegal-level work experience.
- {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher or Paralegal Certificate and a minimum of 2 years related experience in a legal environment
Preferred skills - Experience drafting motions for summary judgment on liability and the New York Serious Injury Threshold
- Solid knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and procedures
- Experience interpreting and summarizing medical records and deposition transcripts
- Ability to operate a personal computer with a good working knowledge of the following software applications: Word, Excel, SharePoint,PDF/Kofax/Adobe, New York eCourts and NYSEF
- Experience performing legal research using Westlaw and other search engines
Compensation
- $34.40 - $41.28/hour depending on experience and location
- Gainshare bonus up to 24% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
