Position Summary

The Program Manager, Patient Services, is responsible for providing comprehensive and unbiased services, consultation, resources, and educational programming to the brain tumor community - including patients, caregivers, family members, and healthcare professionals - across all phases of the brain tumor journey.

This individual will lead core ABTA services, including our educational Webinar Series, Connections Online Support Community, and Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Programming, including facilitating a virtual Young Adult Meet-Up. They will also support the ABTA CareLine and the virtual component of the Annual National Conference. The Program Manager plays a key role in engaging with constituents, facilitating supportive programs, and elevating awareness of ABTA's mission through community outreach and strategic partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Development:

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based programming for ABTA's Webinars, Connections, and AYA initiatives.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop measurable program goals and outcomes.
  • Apply project management tools to support program development, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver and moderate virtual educational sessions and support groups.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on program impact using post-event surveys and analytics.

Patient & Caregiver Support:

  • Respond to CareLine inquiries (phone and email) from patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, providing personalized resources, education, and referrals.
  • Offer emotional support and practical guidance through consistent, high-quality constituent interactions.
  • Ensure documentation of services is complete and accurate using Salesforce.

Conference & Event Support:

  • Lead the planning and execution of the virtual experience of ABTA's National Conference in collaboration with the Director of Patient Services, Senior Program Manager, and Program Coordinator.

Community & Professional Engagement:

  • Cultivate relationships with healthcare providers, advocacy organizations, and mission-aligned partners to enhance programming and referral resources.
  • Represent ABTA at national meetings and conferences (in person and virtually) to increase awareness and access to ABTA resources as needed.
  • Support outreach initiatives to promote the ABTA's mission, services, and brand visibility.

Team Collaboration & Administration

  • Collaborate with the Director of Patient Services, Senior Program Managers, and Program Coordinator to align programs with ABTA strategy and goals.
  • Submit monthly reports and track metrics that reflect program reach and effectiveness.
  • Assist Marketing & Communications with social media engagement related to patient and caregiver inquiries.
  • Participate in internal planning meetings, professional development, and team training sessions.

Requirements

  • Degree in social work, nursing, public health, psychology, or a related field required; candidates with equivalent professional or lived experience in healthcare, patient advocacy, or nonprofit program management are encouraged to apply. Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate's degree will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare, patient advocacy, community health, or a similar field.
  • Experience moderating peer support groups and leading virtual programs is a plus.
  • Ability to travel (10-20%) to conferences or events and work occasional evenings or weekends to support events or conferences.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., materials for events).
  • A remote workspace that will allow for privacy in delivering a professional virtual presentation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting others.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and experiences of patients and caregivers, particularly in a healthcare or nonprofit setting
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Compassionate and empathetic communication style; skilled in interpersonal and written communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, SharePoint, and project management platforms like Asana preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data for program evaluation and improvement.
  • Familiarity with brain tumors or oncology preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working remotely.

The hiring salary range for the position is $56,000 - $60,000/year.
