Position Description

This position applies professional accounting concepts and internal policies and procedures to solve and analyze accounting issues. This position is responsible for the timely preparation and analysis of management and regulatory financial reporting; to include but not limited to the balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other financial and regulatory reporting, including analyzing trends, costs and revenues. This position is also responsible for processing payroll in an accurate and timely manner. This fast-paced role sometimes requires working beyond the standard 40-hour week; flexibility is key. Strong communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities

  • Be forthcoming, proactive and transparent with communication across multiple departments.
  • Collect and review payroll timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process biweekly payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and company policies.
  • Ensure accurate benefit and deduction processing.
  • Analyze and prepare daily cash position reports, ensuring optimal cash flow utilization and alignment with organizational liquidity strategies.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including all supporting schedules.
  • Assist in the timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledger and correspondent accounts, ensuring accounts are properly balanced; researches and rectifies out of balance conditions; processes and ensures timely clearing of all exception items.
  • Assist the Controller in audit compliance and procedure quality control; assists with preparation of internal and external audits and exams by providing documentation requested.
  • Record accrual entries, including but not limited to fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and payroll-related transactions, ensuring proper accounting treatment and period-end accuracy.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance, including account setup, mapping, and adjustments to support financial reporting accuracy.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of accounting controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and safeguard organizational assets
  • Organize, maintain, and electronically file financial documentation and workpapers in accordance with audit and compliance standards.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Automated payroll, timekeeping, and applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of payroll and accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Understanding report writing.
  • Knowledge of financial institution operations and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with financial statement preparation, general ledger accounting, and month-end/year-end closing procedures
  • Proficiency in accounting reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and variance analysis.
  • Commit to a high level of confidentiality with integrity.
  • Prioritize, solve problems and meet critical deadlines.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Time management and flexibility to shift tasks and priorities quickly as departmental needs change while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Understanding internal controls, audit standards, and risk management procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Experience with payroll processing required. Knowledge of Paylocity a plus.
  • 2 years of standard accounting practices and procedures.

Estimated Pay Range: $55,000-65,000 annually depending on knowledge, experience, skills, and education
