Groundskeeper Position at DoubleTree by Hilton

The DoubleTree by Hilton is a resort style paradise in the Grand Valley of Colorado overlooking the famous bluffs of the Grand Mesa. The DoubleTree is part of the Hilton Family of Brands and is managed by Stonebridge Companies. Our hotel offers 273 guestrooms and over 12,000 square feet of conference space. For dining options we offer the Bistro 743 and separate 743 Lounge.

The purpose of a Groundskeeper is to landscape or maintain grounds of property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
  • Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
  • Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areas.
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
  • Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
  • Gather and remove litter.
  • Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
  • Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other grounds features.
  • Maintains regular attendance, is consistently on time, and observes prescribed work, break and meal periods in compliance with standards.
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Less than high school education required; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to understand and speak some English.
